Ukraine has announced the start of mass production for an innovative locally engineered defensive UAV to reinforce its air defences. Three initial manufacturers have started manufacturing, with an additional eleven getting ready to establish production lines, the defence ministry stated on Friday.

Advanced 'Octopus' System Tested in Combat Conditions

These UAVs utilize a nationally created technology known as “Octopus” engineered to neutralize Iranian-made drones. The system underwent testing in actual battle and proved successful “at night, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” the ministry stated. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has set an ambitious goal of producing as many as 1,000 interceptors each day.

Recent Assault on the Capital Characterized as Deliberate

Volodymyr Zelenskyy characterized Russia’s latest attack against Ukraine as “intentional, calculated and wicked” following six individuals lost their lives and dozens injured in a wave of nocturnal attacks across Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv just after midnight this past Friday, with enemy UAVs quickly heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukraine's aerial protection units.

Zelenskyy reported the country was hit by hundreds of UAVs and multiple missiles. The deceased were inside their residences in an apartment building on the capital's left bank when it was hit. Numerous of additional structures were damaged, including the Azerbaijani embassy.

Diplomatic Protest After Diplomatic Compound Damage

The Azerbaijani government announced it delivered a strong protest to Moscow's diplomatic representative this past Friday after the embassy damage. Moscow's military have been launching 200 to 250 glide bombs daily, with last month’s average daily usage being approximately 170, according to defence ministry data.

Ukrainian Strikes Target Russian Energy Infrastructure

Moscow's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk halted for a period oil exports this past Friday – equivalent to 2% of global supply – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Military commanders in Kyiv said its forces had launched Neptune cruise missiles and used multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of operations to reduce the military and economic potential of the invading force.”

Ukrainian forces separately targeted an oil refinery in the Saratov area and an energy depot in nearby Engels during the night.

Global Restrictions Affect Russian Energy Company

Russia’s second-largest oil producer Lukoil announced on Friday it is negotiating with potential buyers concerning its international holdings following last month’s restrictions from the UK and the US and the collapse of a deal with the Gunvor trading house. “The specific deal are to be disclosed after the final agreements are completed and required authorizations are secured,” Lukoil commented.

Zelenskyy Schedules Diplomatic Trip to Spain

Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit the Spanish capital, Madrid, next Tuesday to confer with lawmakers a day after his visit to Paris, the chamber of deputies announced. Zelenskyy would meet representatives from all houses of parliament during his visit, an official announcement confirmed.
