This Swine Life: Hog Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami Dade County Leader.

Although not quite at the equivalent scale as sparing festive fowl, but the county's top official experienced a presidential-style act this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the heart of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” declared Levine Cava in a speech with obvious nods to the sheer volume of pardons issued from the start of the onset of a second term in office.

“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” the mayor added. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence without fear.”

This ceremony, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of feasting on pork during the holidays, was established to mirror the yearly bird sparing at the White House.

The pig, donated by a Coral Gables firefighter, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people exclaiming “six seven” – deriving from a hip-hop line – often without clear purpose. The trend became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently named “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now destined to live out its days at a rural sanctuary “away from grills and cookware”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to open the holiday season,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It embodies the essence of Miami: happy, varied, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Annually, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Attendees enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and strong coffee as they marked the pig's pardon.
