Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it was understandable for concerns to be raised about his future following another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, representing the club's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got a lot of support from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to turn it around and secure a win naturally but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I sense the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Response

Slot highlighted familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to consider it. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period of this nature with performances so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, prove again the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it needs to change.”
