Salah Offers Statement to Squad, Discloses Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has revealed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the entire Liverpool squad after the fallout from his televised remarks.
What Happened
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match after making accusations and stating his relationship with manager had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “His apology was clear and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, please accept my apology.’”
The head coach has chosen not to comment publicly on whether he received a personal apology from the player.
Looking Ahead
Jones insisted that the squad's reaction remained positive. “Nothing about him changed, his demeanour was positive and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.
He also implied that a player's desire to start is a positive trait. “I understand there are certain ways you can handle situations,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just sit out, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Positive Results
Their results have been impressive in the matches since the interview fallout. Jones believes the forward's comments were not designed to cause disruption.
“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and securing victories.”
