An Urban Center Cut Off from the Outside

Following their control of the community under siege for approximately 24 months, from August the paramilitary force proceeded to reinforce its dominance and blockade the surviving inhabitants.

Orbital photography show that forces started to build a enormous berm - a elevated sand barrier - surrounding the edges of the city, closing roads and halting humanitarian assistance.

During the encirclement worsened, seventy-eight civilians were killed in an RSF attack on a religious building on 19 September, while the United Nations said fifty-three additional were killed in drone and heavy weapon bombardments on a makeshift community in fall.

Raising his firearm, the fighter discharged a single shot at the victim, who collapsed to the floor lifeless.

"For what reason is this person still alive," another militiaman shouted. "Execute this person."

Space-based imagery recorded on late October appeared to substantiate that executions were also performed on the roads of the city, according to a analysis published by the Yale Humanitarian Research Lab.

An observer who provided testimony stated he had seen "numerous of our kin being massacred - the victims were gathered in a specific area and each one murdered."

Militia Officers Try to Implement Public Relations

During the period that followed the atrocity, militia leader admitted that his troops had perpetrated "violations" and said the incidents would be looked into.

Part of the apprehended was following a report detailing his killings. Carefully orchestrated and modified recording posted on the RSF's official messaging account show the commander being taken into a cell at a prison on the outskirts of al-Fashir.

Simultaneously, the militia and associated social media channels started attempting to alter the account.

Updates depicting its militiamen providing aid to residents were shared by various accounts, while the paramilitary's public relations unit shared numerous recordings claiming to display the humane management of army prisoners of war.

Despite the digital effort being deployed by the militia, their activities in el-Fasher have sparked worldwide condemnation.
