Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is unclear and the US has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
