Cowboys player Marshawn Kneeland has passed away at the age of 24.

The Cowboys selected the Cowboys in the second round in 2024 and played 18 times for the team, including four starts.

He scored his first touchdown in the Tuesday game to the Arizona Cardinals when he recovered a blocked punt.

"He was a cherished team member and member of our organisation," the Dallas Cowboys stated.

"Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his loved ones."

Kneeland was picked by the Cowboys with the 56th selection of the 2024 draft after his college career for Western Michigan University.

His agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart breaks" for the loss of the athlete who "poured his heart" into each opportunity.

"I watched him fight his way from a aspiring young man at Western Michigan with a goal to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley said.

The NFL said it is "profoundly grieved" by the news.
